Video: US swimmer Anita Alvarez rescued by coach after sinking to bottom of pool at world championships event
Coach Andrea Fuentes rescued American artistic swimmer Anita Alvarez from drowning after she lost consciousness in the pool during her solo free event at the world championships in Budapest on Wednesday.
Fuentes leapt into the pool after she saw Alvarez sink to the bottom at the end of her routine. Alvarez was treated on the side of the pool before being taken away for further treatment and will be assessed by doctors before deciding if she can participate in Friday's team event.
